~Longlands Fell~
A featured fell is my way of studying each fell in turn and recording thoughts and observations.
AW: "The simple, uncomplicated pyramid of Longlands Fell terminates the northwest ridge of Great Sca Fell. It marks the end of Lakeland in this direction" Put simply, it's in the back of beyond.
Longlands Fell from Lowthwaite Fell
Longlands Fell has a near neighbour, Lowthwaite Fell, which has a higher summit. Longlands Fell suits the walker who enjoys wide open spaces, solitude and doesn't want to be scrambling over tricky, rocky outcrops.
Longlands Fell Summit
Wainwright says: " Anyone who cannot manage this short and simple climb is advised to give up the idea of becoming a fellwalker."
Longlands Houses
It's one of those fells that walkers not living close by, will probably only visit for the purpose of ticking boxes. Like me.
Where: Northern Fells. Close to nowhere in particular.
Height: 1580ft
Suggested Route: The Ascent from Longlands as described on AW Longlands Fell 3.
My Frequency: Twice, same route both times.
Whilst You're There: Little Sca Fell and Great Sca Fell, maybe Brae Fell as well.
